Labour demand and job-to-job movement: Macro-consequences as a result from Micro-Economie behaviour
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper investigates, both theoretically and empirically, the relationship between labour demand and job-to-job movement at the macro-level. A labour demand equation is modelied, which distinguishes the adjustment costs into net and gross adjustment costs. The paper derives and simulates the exact upper bounds of the marginal hiring costs of an empioyed worker, for which a quit between two firms yields a positive aggregate relationship between quits and employment. The relationship is estimated as a cointegration model for the Netherlands; it appears that the inclusion of quits may provide a substantial improvement of the estimated labour demand equation.

متن کاملA Consistent Set of Time Series Data on Labour Market Flows for the Netherlands
This paper develops a consistent set of worker flow data for The Netherlands, based on the availability of actual time series and a number of additional assumptions, between all essential states in the labour market: employed, unemployed and out of the labour market. Furthermore, we also construct, based on the same principle, series of job flows, where job creation, job destruction and job rea...
متن کاملThe Long Road to Flexicurity: The Development of Job Security Regulations in Denmark and Sweden
Flexicurity has become a prominent policy recommendation in recent years. However, little is known about the actual development of flexicurity in the country most often associated with it – namely Denmark. 2 This paper investigates upon job search mechanism at individual level by a determinstic-stochastic approach in a economy with perfect competion and rational agents. Each single unit, firm or worker, is analyzed over time; aggregate dynamics comes directly from the micro-structure of the economy. We show that the unemployment as well as the vacancy rate converge in the long run to an ergodic d...
